Crabbing, Seals, and Smiles with Level 2
Recently, Mind Body & Sea welcomed six young people from Level 2 Children’s Charity aboard Neverland for a day packed with adventure, wildlife, and laughter. Three of the group had sailed with us before and were excited to relive the experience all over again.
We began the day in Walton Channel, crabbing by the concrete barges. Buckets quickly filled, and the excitement on board was unmistakable. Each successful haul sparked celebration and a growing sense of achievement among the group.
From there, we made our way to Bramble Creek, where the shoreline was dotted with seals basking in the sun. Cameras were soon clicking as the young people captured some fantastic photographs of these curious and playful creatures.
After lunch on the river, it was time to return the crabs to the water. As Neverland picked up speed leaving Walton, everyone enjoyed the refreshing spray, including Susan on her very first volunteering trip. The shared laughter created a wonderful sense of togetherness on deck.
We finished the day with bass fishing on the Orwell. Several fish were caught and safely returned to the water, giving each young person the satisfaction of a successful catch. As a parting gift, everyone received a Mind Body & Sea / Neverland keyring to take home as a memento of the day.
A huge thank you to the young people from Level 2 and to every volunteer who helped make this trip so special. These moments on the water create not only memories, but also lasting connections and confidence for the young people we welcome aboard.
