Singing, Sunshine, and Shared Stories on the Orwell
Mind Body and Sea recently welcomed a brilliant group from Memory Lane aboard Neverland for a truly uplifting afternoon on the water. With clear skies and calm waters, the stage was set for a trip filled with joy, connection, and the magic that happens when people come together in nature. Our guests, many of whom live with Alzheimer’s or similar conditions, arrived with visible excitement. The Mind Body and Sea team ensured everyone felt at ease, with a wheelchair user comfortably accommodated and support provided throughout. As we departed the marina and followed the curves of the Orwell into the Stour, the atmosphere on deck was calm and cheerful, filled with light conversation, shared smiles, and the soothing splash of the river. As the journey unfolded, so did the stories. Guests opened up, reminisced, and relaxed. On the return route, something special occurred. Music began to play over the speakers, and slowly, singing emerged. Familiar tunes sparked moments of recognition, and soon, several guests were singing along with joy and confidence. The spirit of the group was infectious, and the energy flowed from the deck into the cabin where dancing broke out. We returned to the marina under the helm of Skipper Tony, cruising gently to the sounds of Mr. Blue Sky. It was a perfect ending to a beautiful afternoon. For the Mind Body and Sea team, it was a powerful reminder of why these sessions matter. A simple boat trip became a moment of meaning, offering connection, celebration, and belonging for every person on board. Thank you to our friends from Memory Lane. We hope to welcome you back soon. 📥 info@mindbodyandsea.co.uk
