Shared Stories and Strong Bonds: A Veterans’ Day on the Water
Last Thursday, Mind Body & Sea welcomed a group of veterans aboard Neverland for a day of fishing and fellowship. Some joined us through our ongoing collaboration with Combat2Coffee, while others came from our own veteran community. Together, they created a day filled with laughter, connection, and shared experience.
Although the fishing itself was slow, the atmosphere on deck was anything but. The sea conditions eventually guided us back into the river, where the afternoon unfolded in comfort and good company. Rods may not have been bending often, but conversations flowed freely.
The camaraderie among the group was clear from the start. Humour, shared memories, and stories of service were exchanged, each one strengthening the bond between those present. By the end of the day, it was obvious that the greatest catch was not the fish, but the friendship, support, and sense of belonging that came from being together.
At Mind Body & Sea, we believe these moments are vital. For many veterans, time on the water offers a safe space to relax, reconnect, and reflect. It is not just about fishing, but about being “in the same boat” – listening, laughing, and finding strength in shared experience.
We are grateful to Combat2Coffee for their partnership and to all the veterans who joined us. Trips like these remind us why we do what we do, and we look forward to many more opportunities to support the wellbeing of those who have given so much.
